      Somatoscopy

Somatoscopy is a branch of forensic anthropology that focuses on the examination and analysis of physical characteristics and variations of the human body, particularly those related to identification and individualization. Forensic anthropologists use somatoscopic methods to document and analyze anatomical features such as scars, tattoos, birthmarks, and unique morphological traits of bones and soft tissues. By studying these distinctive markers, forensic experts can aid in the identification of unknown individuals, assist in criminal investigations, and provide valuable evidence in legal proceedings. Somatoscopy relies on meticulous observation, documentation, and comparison of physical traits, often in conjunction with other forensic methods such as DNA analysis and dental records, to establish the identity of human remains and resolve medicolegal cases.

      Serology

Serology is a branch of forensic science that focuses on the analysis of bodily fluids, particularly blood, saliva, semen, and other biological materials, to provide evidence in criminal investigations. Forensic serologists analyze bloodstains, saliva stains, and other bodily fluid residues recovered from crime scenes or evidence items to identify biological sources, determine blood types, and detect the presence of specific proteins or genetic markers. Serological techniques such as blood typing, enzyme assays, and DNA analysis are used to link suspects to crime scenes, establish victim-perpetrator relationships, and corroborate witness testimonies. Serological evidence plays a crucial role in forensic investigations, providing valuable information about the events surrounding a crime, the identities of individuals involved, and the dynamics of violent encounters. Additionally, advances in serological analysis, such as the development of DNA profiling techniques, have significantly enhanced the accuracy and reliability of forensic identifications, leading to advancements in criminal justice and legal proceedings.
