The National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), 2006 was an initiative launched by the Government of India to leverage information technology for delivering public services and enhancing efficiency in governance. Introduced under the vision of making "Government as an Enabler," NeGP aimed to ensure that government services are accessible to citizens electronically, promoting transparency and reducing bureaucratic hurdles. The plan encompassed multiple Mission Mode Projects (MMPs) covering areas like land records, public distribution, and online services delivery. NeGP played a pivotal role in transforming the government-citizen interface, fostering digital inclusion, and streamlining administrative processes. This initiative marked a significant step towards harnessing technology to improve governance, service delivery, and overall efficiency in the public sector.
