Co-operative values are the foundational principles that guide the operation and ethos of cooperative enterprises. These values, encapsulated in the seven internationally recognized principles established by the International Co-operative Alliance, are:

      1. Voluntary and Open Membership: Cooperatives are open to all without discrimination, and membership is voluntary.
      2. Democratic Member Control: Members have equal voting rights and participate in decision-making processes.
      3. Member Economic Participation: Members contribute equitably to, and democratically control, the capital of their cooperative.
      4. Autonomy and Independence: Cooperatives are autonomous, self-help organizations controlled by their members.
      5. Education, Training, and Information: Cooperatives provide education and training for their members, elected representatives, managers, and employees.
      6. Cooperation among Cooperatives: Cooperatives work together for the sustainable development of their communities through mutually beneficial partnerships.
      7. Concern for Community: Cooperatives work for the sustainable development of their communities by providing services that meet members' needs.

These values emphasize democratic governance, member participation, equitable distribution of benefits, autonomy, cooperation, and social responsibility. By adhering to these principles, cooperatives strive to create sustainable and inclusive economic systems that prioritize the well-being of their members and communities over profit maximization.
