Reaction Formation:
Reaction formation is a defense mechanism in psychology where an individual expresses the opposite of their true feelings to manage inner conflicts. It involves adopting attitudes or behaviors that contrast with their unconscious desires or emotions. For example, someone harboring aggressive impulses may display exaggerated friendliness. This mechanism helps individuals cope with unacceptable thoughts or feelings by presenting a facade that appears socially or personally acceptable, concealing the underlying emotions.
